Dylan D Barth
Dr Barth is an infectious diseases Epidemiologist with a vast array of skills and expertise in environmental health, disease surveillance and in undertaking community-based epidemiological studies. He holds degrees in environmental health (B.Tech), Public Health (MPH), and in Epidemiology/Medicine (PhD). During his doctoral work, he led the establishment of an African-wide disease registry and biorepository for Strep A infection (The AFROStrep Study). His postdoctoral research focuses on improving primary prevention strategies (through recognition and early treatment of Strep A infections) to prevent rheumatic heart disease in Aboriginal and Torre Strait Islanders people (The Missing Piece Study). He is a Senior Epidemiologist in the Communicable Disease Control Directorate at the WA Department of Health and an associate Research Fellow at the Telethon Kids Institute and University of Western Australia. He is passionate about diseases affecting marginalised communities and commits his research work towards improving health equity and health outcomes for underserved populations. He is currently pursuing a Master of Health Leadership and Management at the University of New South Wales.
